St Michael's Today

We are fortunate that St Michael's, as a building, has been well looked after in the 65 years after its completion and that at present there are no major structural problems.

A new church hall for St Michaels was built, from 2014 to 2016.
Planning permission for the mixed use redevelopment of this and the adjacent petrol filling station was granted by Barnet's Planning and Environment Committee in February 2009.

The developers worked closely with planning officers, local residents, the Mill Hill Preservation Society, church members and users of the existing Hartley Hall to bring forward a scheme to rejuvenate this site.

There was significant community support for the development at Flower Lane that will deliver a fabulous new resource for the whole community, including a state of the art, purpose built hall to provide bigger and better facilities for local groups with full access for everyone.

The welcome every person receives as they enter our church door is our highest priority.
We recognize that walking into a church, particularly for the first time, can be extremely daunting.  We have a specially dedicated welcoming team who stand at a dedicated station immediately inside the front door and greet people as they arrive and hand out service booklets.
The welcoming team are encouraged to learn people's names and wherever possible to greet everyone by name. The welcomers are provided with attractive blue sashes saying "welcome".

We seek to ensure that everyone is greeted with a smile and that nobody is left to walk nervously into church not knowing what to do, where to sit, or what they need to follow the service.
The welcoming team are on hand throughout the remainder of the service to ensure that everyone receives the same quality of welcome no matter what time they arrive.
We try to foster a culture where you are "never too late to be warmly welcomed" at St Michaels.
