Churches Together

The object for Churches Together in Mill Hill is for its member churches to share together in the ministry of Christ in the world through worship, mission and service

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives.
Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”
John 14:27

This time of lockdown and the gradual move away from it has affected many people.
Some are struggling with depression and isolation;
others have lost loved ones and are feeling the deep wounds of grief and sorrow.

Lord, today we pray for those whose hearts scream out in hurt.
Those whose spirits are bruised and broken.
People whose faces are constantly washed with the tears of sadness,
we call to you Lord, send your peace.

For those who are hurting and confused. Those who are battling with mental health issues.
Families who are stretched to breaking point as they support a member in utter despair.

Lord might your peace sustain, strengthen and protect.
Lord who experienced hurt and sorrow, be near to those who cry out in anguish.

In Jesus’ name,

Bereavement Support – Training Opportunity

At this challenging time of the COVID pandemic, with so much loss, there is increased need for a trained ear.
The Bereavement Visiting Group has existed approximately 35 years supporting bereaved individuals and local residents.
We are part of Bereavement Care based in Harrow.
About five years ago, Bereavement Care ran an Initial Bereavement Training Course especially for interested Mill Hill people.
This was arranged by Father Steven, priest at Saint Michael’s Church.
About 15 participants attended this.

We already have some interest in another course.
This would be spread over two days at a local venue.
The cost would be covered by CTMH.
If you are looking to support bereaved friends or other people who need group or individual help, this may be for you.
We hope that attendees will help with the Drop-in or listen to someone who is bereaved and is looking for help.
We are listeners not therapists or trained counsellors.

More information will follow next month.
If you have any questions, please call Maggi on 020 8959 7918.

Council needs your views on the Barnet Local Plan

The Local Plan sets out a vision for how Barnet will change as a place over the next 15 years and forms a strategy which emphasises the borough’s attractiveness as a place to live, work and visit.
This will replace the existing 2012 Local Plan and will provide the main basis upon which future planning applications will be determined.
Your views are needed by 9 August. Further information and accompanying documents can be viewed here.
Paper copies are available at local libraries.
