STEWARDSHIP DURING COVID
We live in the strangest of times. We remember those who have died, and whose loved ones have died, and commend them into the hands of our Lord.
It seems almost trivial to be thinking about money at such a time, but, as with other churches, and within the broad church communion, we need a stable financial basis in order to reach out to our own congregation, to our local community and to the worldwide community, especially now.
If you already make your regular giving to St Michael’s by standing order or Parish Giving, those payments will have continued through this period of closed churches.
If you would normally make your offering using the collection plate, it may well be that you have not had the chance to make donations.
It might seem like a small amount for anybody at the time, but collections normally taken during services actually add up to nearly 10% of our contribution to the Common Fund – a payment which we are obliged to make in order to keep the Church of England running.
In actual fact, our Parish costs the Diocese more than we contribute.

We know that many of you are giving more to charities at this time, with so many needs being thrown into sharp relief, but hope that you can still continue making donations to the church, the same as you would be doing if you could attend the Sunday Service and contributing to the collection plate.
In most cases, if you are a UK taxpayer we will be able to receive Gift Aid on your donation, which means that the amount of your donation will be increased by 25%.
Here are some ways in which you can contribute:
- Parish Giving Scheme
- Standing orders
- One-off donations by cheque or bank transfer
- Online donations
- Card payments in the church
- Online Shopping
This is the best way to make regular contributions.
It’s done by direct debit, and the Parish Giving Scheme handles Gift Aid automatically.
You can set up a direct debit online here:
https://www.parishgiving.org.uk/donors/find-your-parish/mill-hill-st-michael-mill-hill/
or call 0333 002 1271 and quote our parish reference number 230623314.
You will have to complete a standing order mandate and send it to your bank.
If you are a UK tax payer, HMRC can credit us with 25% of your donation if you fill in a
Gift Aid declaration.
Please fill this in and send it to us.
You can send a cheque to us, or make a bank transfer to:
PCC of St Michael and All Angels Mill Hill
Sort Code 60-14-27
Account No. 05109418
If you include a Gift Aid declaration, or have made one before, we will be able to claim Gift Aid.
Donations can be made online at

The standard donations are £5, £10 and £20, but you can choose any amount you like from a minimum of £1 – and there is no upper limit!
You can also make a Gift Aid declaration just for this donation at the same time.
At the moment we can’t pass around a collection plate during services in the church.
When public services are possible again, we have a contactless card reader available.
This was first used by Bishop Rob when he presided over our Mass on 4th September before our Confirmation service.
You can help to support St Michael's by raising money every time you shop online - at no cost to you!
